After leaving a very demanding regional management position with a comedy club/bar/restaurant, I began working a 9-5 office position. The stillness was a shock to my system and it felt as though time had stopped at certain quiet moments throughout the day. That thought was the initial impetus for my latest book, Diminishing Return. Other thoughts that drove the narrative were: The growing tendency for Hollywood, the music industry, and culture in general to champion nostalgic reboots and recycled ideas and art, the current political climate and how it seems to be affecting people's personal relationships, the shocking rise in the number of suicides among my personal acquaintances as well as artists who have always inspired me, and of course, music was an inspiration. Music is almost a character in the book.

I generally work on something else. Sometimes I work on marketing materials or my blog. I also curate music playlists on Spotify which relate to what I'm working on, like I'm putting together a soundtrack for the work in my head.
