Getting a literary agent. Seriously! I've written nine complete novels and a novella. Only published (self) one novel and the novella so far. But selling your own work is a CHORE! I've already got two full-time jobs: the one that pays the bills and taking care of the family. Writing, marketing, etc has become a third.

Daydreaming, really. I guess you can call it that. When driving between jobs, or sitting down at meals, or in the shower, instead of thinking about all the usual life problems, I think of characters, plots, scenes, and how best to surprise the reader.
