Saxon Bennett First off, thank you for your questions. It's a hard one. Every book I write I have a favorite character, but some of my characters speak more to me than others. I adore Chase Banter in the Family Affair trilogy, Parker in the True Heart series, Zing in Big Love, and Lexi in Love Over Moon Street. The actress part of the question is way too hard for me. I just really don't know. I'd love to see one of my books on the silver screen but casting I'd have to leave up to the professionals.
Saxon Bennett That's a good story. The Bennett family has always had a guardian angel. Stuff could happen but doesn't. It's kind of like all those times when you should have fallen or crashed or the house burned down but it didn't. So my idea for Big Love came out of that.
Saxon Bennett That's a hard one. I'd have to say that my imagination is a very busy lady. She can't help herself. I'm pretty compulsive when it comes to writing. I wish sometimes I could write a book in less time because I get all excited about an idea and I want to write it right then but I have to finish the one I'm writing. I know I'm really for fortunate that ideas come easily. And I am very thankful for that.
Saxon Bennett Layce and I just finished Big Love, a romantic comedy which will be out in September. I'm working on the first draft edit of The Dating Game. Monday I'll hand it over to Layce for her to work her magic. That should be out in November. Then we'll be starting a series with the working title of Funny Town. Never a dull moment here.
Saxon Bennett Just do it. I can't tell you how much crappy stuff I've written. You've got to work through it and practice, practice, practice. I recommend writing something, anything every single day. Okay, you can take Christmas off. But really it's a skill and a craft and those have to be honed. The next thing is to do is read a lot on all sorts of subjects. Observe people. Listen to how they talk and then make up little scenarios. Do this and you'll be the writer you want to be. Be kind to yourself and patient. That's the hardest part.
Saxon Bennett I love making up stories and being my own boss. I get to decide what I want to write about and by being a partner in my publishing company I have a lot of say about when a new book gets released and all that other non-writing business. And most importantly, I get to write with my best friend and life partner.
Saxon Bennett I pretty much avoid that particular beast by just making myself write through it. The delete key is my best friend. Sometimes, I use a notebook that I put down random thoughts and that warms me up.
