Brooke Skipstone I'd been kicking the idea around in my head for many months but couldn't figure out how to approach it. I got the idea for Jazz long before I knew what the book would be about. Everyone has secrets. Some have really dark secrets but find a way to carry on.

The main aspect of the book, though, is memory: What is it? Where is it? How and why does it change? Two real people had completely different memories of the same event. How can that happen? And I came across an article about an experiment with worms and whether memories could be stored outside the brain. That was fascinating.
Brooke Skipstone Walking and daydreaming until I see bits of a story play in my head.
Brooke Skipstone Two books: One about racism and hate groups and another a sequel to Someone To Kiss My Scars.
Brooke Skipstone The ability to create anyone and any scene and any story. The excitement of figuring out a solution or an ending or a hook. The whole process is such a rush.
Brooke Skipstone I haven't experienced this very often, but when I do, I walk through the trees. My brain focuses inward as I wander, smelling the clean air and feeling the heat or cold or wind or snow or rain wash over me.
