Crystal Estell Initially, I had a vague plot concept floating around in my head [along with the other crazy stuff] about a woman getting pregnant and having to go on a hilarious search for the unknown father. I knew I wanted her to be Type A, an avid life-planner, and have this situation be something totally outside of her norm. I just didn’t know how to make it happen without delving into dubious content.

Then, [in my real-life job as a registered nurse] I ran across a couple of people complaining of blurred, or missing, memories after having sex with their partners. The light bulb went off! A night of mind-blowing sex could be the trigger for her memory loss.

But the stakes needed to be higher than just finding the father. So, I threatened her career and forced her into a fake marriage to save it, added an unreliable private investigator, and sent her on a wild, and hilarious journey to find her baby’s daddy.
Crystal Estell I write romance, so it's only fitting I have a playlist entitled "Love". I pop in my earbuds, turn up the volume, and write away.
Crystal Estell Keep writing! I write no matter how bad it sounds because if I keep at it long enough, the words will eventually snap in place.
Crystal Estell The ability to bring stories and characters to life, to elicit emotion in others with a string of simple words is by far the best part of writing. I get to put all those crazy ideas floating around into a novel someone might actually enjoy.
Crystal Estell I'm torn between two! Ugh! So, I'm mapping out the plot points and twists of both...and then I'll make a decision.
Crystal Estell Don't give up-ever! The first draft is junk. The second draft is polished junk. By the fifteenth revision, you might catch glimpses of the masterpiece hidden beneath all those adverbs, crutch words, and plot holes. The point is, a fully develop story takes time and sacrifice to achieve. But when you do... it's an indescribable feeling.
