I am working on the next Saygar the Magnificent book. The story takes place during the month of October with Halloween and La Llorona on the minds of Joseph and his classmates. Joseph gives Saygar a gift of a superhero cape in preparation for Saygar's first Halloween. Not understanding the concept of costumes and trick-or-treating, Saygar believes he is a superhero. This leads to Joseph and Saygar's continuing battles with Marcie, The Moose, and other adventures and misadventures.

During my time as a student teacher, I was struggling to harness the energy and attention of the young students I was working with. On one of those high energy day, an ant was spotted crawling on the floor of the classroom. To my amazement and relief, the students settled down to watch this ordinary red ant. I seized on that moment of quietude and weaved an adventurous tale about this ant. They were amused and asked for more. That was the beginning of this book, the beginning of Saygar.
