Nina Xiang This is why I feel fiction is so hard. You don't really have writer's block writing non-fiction books.
Nina Xiang Learning about new things every minute. Each book is a deep dive into an extremely interesting topic. As a journalist, such deep dives are highly immersive and valuable, and rare. As a journalist in a newsroom, you are catching daily deadlines. The feeling of knowing something on an expert level is great.
Nina Xiang I'm working on a research paper on China's semiconductor industry, also writing columns for two media outlets in addition to frequent media interviews/conference speeches on top of overseeing the operation of a China tech/VC data/intelligence platform.

I tried to write a dystopia fiction before this latest book but found it to be extremely challenging. I feel the difference between writing non-fiction and fiction is equal to building a bicycle and building a rocket. For other writers, the reverse may be true?
Nina Xiang I just have a strong desire to contribute/push human knowledge/understanding/consensus on important issues. The most critical is to build mutual understanding across different cultures/countries, which is something I'm in a unique position to do because of my international background/work experience.
Nina Xiang Everyone is talking about the metaverse but few think about this issue with a global perspective. I want to fill this void.
