Thank you for the question! I chose Victorian because I wanted it to be near the end of the Romantic era. Post Romanticism was more about equality and bringing more focus on realism, this era fit more with my main character (Catrina's) goals and her more evolved vision of herself.

I was inspired by an article I wrote about a man named Lord Byron who lived in the early half of the 19th century. I found him fascinating because he was renowned for his poetry, but also had quite a lively personal life that involved plenty of parties and tumultuous love affairs.
