I just won the Man Booker. Oh no, it's another Janet Cameron.

Good question. I must admit I thoroughly enjoyed writing it. Any suggestions which historical period I should subvert next?

Ten years ago I joined a Philosophy course. The teacher was very good and went through the history of philosophy entirely from a male perspective. This was interesting, but when he asked us what we'd like to do next term, I said could we look at some women philosophers? He shrugged dismissively and said, "It's not very interesting. It's just about feminism." I was so mad with him, but this further sparked my interest, which had always been there. But now I wanted to do something about it. I began to run a course myself, strictly non-sexist as we looked at both male and female philosophers. Then I began to write content for an educational website, who published the first edition of the book with Smashwords, but with just fifteen women philosophers, For the second edition, that is, the one I am hoping you will want to read, I revised a little, and also added three more women.

I think all writers work in different ways, so not sure I am qualified to advise others. Probably I would say, find out what works best for you - and do it. Avoid cliches. Don't worry if your first draft is rubbish but do lots and lots of editing.

There is always something to motivate me and boredom is a stranger.

Two projects: a book about iconic women poets focussing on feminist issues. And something else that's a secret for now but for me very exciting. I haven't quite got my head around it, or a clear idea about how I am going to approach it.

I don't have writers' block. I would never sit down to a blank sheet of paper and think to myself, "I MUST write." My mind is buzzing all the time, on the bus, out shopping, walking, doing household chores. Writing is what I do when I have something to say, or if I already have a project on the go, which is most of the time.
