Rachel Bennett For me, it's getting to hang out with other writers! I'm really lucky to have a wonderful, talented, and supportive network of fellow writers, both irl and online. I love chatting about books, cheering everyone's successes and commiserating our setbacks. The writing community is (for the most part) a fantastic, welcoming space, and I feel highly blessed that I've managed to blunder into it.
Rachel Bennett I can't wait to dig into Leigh Bardugo's NINTH HOUSE, I've heard really good things about it and I loved her SIX OF CROWS duology. I'm also taking advantage of these strange times to tackle some of the chonky books from my tbr pile - first up are Chuck Wendig's WANDERERS and Samantha Shannons' THE PRIORY OF THE ORANGE TREE. On my ebook reader I've got Rona Halsall's ONE MISTAKE, which I'm excited to start. I'm also going back to the comfort books of my youth... specifically the old Point Horror books. :)
Rachel Bennett One of my friends runs guided wildflower walks, at various locations around the Isle of Man. While leading us through the Curraghs (which, I'm ashamed to say, I'd never visited before), he happened to mention he'd once got himself lost in the boggy woodlands there, while following a wallaby trail. There aren't a lot of places on the Island where a person can get lost, so I was immediately fascinated by the area and wanted to set a story there.
