Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Susan Swain Aren't we all talking about presidential leadership these days? So, which qualities make a president successful? C-SPAN has conducted 3 national surveys of presidential historians on presidential leadership. Our new book, The Presidents, uses the results of our most recent survey in 2017 as the organizing principle for brief biographies of every president drawn from C-SPAN interviews with top contemporary historians. Each chapter contains fascinating profiles of U.S. presidents from the top rated (Abraham Lincoln) to the lowest rated (James Buchanan).
