If writing is something that you love and find great joy in doing, stay determined in spite of limitations and setbacks. If it is something you want to do well, research and learn all you can. Also, be brave enough to ask others for help.

I love connecting with readers! They share their thoughts, stories, and lives with me, and I really appreciate getting to know them. I can be a total introvert. Writing has really pushed me out of that shell and helped me connect with others by building a sense of community with the bigger world.

Ugh. Writer's block is the devil! (I can just see Kathy Bates in the movie Waterboy.) There's nothing worse than staring at a blank piece of paper or computer screen.
I'm a list person, so I brainstorm and write down ideas, related topics, and word associations on sticky notes or whatever I have at hand. If that doesn't work, I get up and do something completely unrelated to writing until inspiration hits. My first go-to is listening to music. Next, I try mindless activities like vacuuming, washing dishes, or folding laundry. If I'm really stuck, I go out in my garden and pull weeds. Almost seems like my brain needs a reset from too much thinking.

For now, I am completely focused on A Cage for One marketing and advertising, but I want to venture into blogging. I plan to do tons of research beforehand until I'm comfortable enough to give it a try. I already have a few pieces written out that didn't make it into my current book.

A few years ago, within a few weeks of each other, the #Metoo movement hit, and I watched a daytime talk show segment about teaching daughters about romantic love through our own cautionary tales. The final push came from author Anne Rice who posted writing advice on social media that said to write what you know. The next day, I dug a pad of paper out of my messy office, and the rest is history.
