Adaora O. I typically do all or one of these three things:

Take a break
Read a really good book
Pray.
Adaora O. Do not write what you THINK people want to read. Write what you FEEL STRONGLY about and HOPE that out of the few odd billions of readers on the globe, there would be a couple who will identify and appreciate the gift you present.
Adaora O. Another cultural belief/practice that possesses the strength to cast a shadow on the minds of even the most liberal of thinkers.
Adaora O. I am drawn to the many cultural or traditional narratives and how they affect human existence and relationships.
Adaora O. Growing up in Africa,Nigeria afforded me the opportunity to observe- first hand the burden which culture placed on the girl child. I quickly leaned in protective comradship. But as I grew older and became more exposed to more people, I learnt of the existence of women ; and men who never would agree to the repressive tradition that promoted the thinking/narrative that the girl child belonged to the bottom of the pile - I thought to write a story to celebrate such humans.
