I'm working on a series I call in the elevator pitch "the Mayan game of Thrones". It's a historical Fantasy set in 533 AD during the classic Maya period at the time of the rise of the Serpent Lords in the Peten region of Guatemala. That whole area was begining to collapse. So we ask a series of questions: why? What is happening archeologically and anthopologically? What evidence is there to back things up historically, and the story begins to unfold. Then you broaden the field and you find Brendan the Navigator, the Great Irish Monk, may have reached the new world at this time...
So we ask, what if an Irish Monk reached the Maya? What if they heard the Christian gospel at that time? Light skinned men with beards preaching give your hearts to God. What if they got it. All. Terribly. Wrong.

Do it! Don't wait for the planets to align. They never will. You don't want to be 80 looking back on your life and wishing you had taken the time to write. Do it!

I've never had writer's block. But I imagine I would deal with it the samw way I would deal with procrastination. Sit your a$$ down in the chair and write. Anything.

The Lord of the Rings- I would join in the quest of course. But I'd want to be an Elf, of course, because Elves are cool, have great clothes and pointy ears. And there's that whole archery thing going on .

Rosetta Man was one. Absolutely LOVED it! The Magic of Deben Market by my friend David Bowmore (check out the amazing review)
Those are the only two books I had tine for this summer as I'm building a barn.

Blessed came about from a stray comment a fellow nurse made one day: : "You know, if we could only lay on hands, we could all go home early." Presto, a book was born. But....what if God gave that power to a doctor? What if her husband was involved in a fundamentalist cult that belived women had no business working. The rest came about from throwing in vacuumes (as Grant P Hudson would say) I had the entire back story written first, about what drove her into the mountains. Trying to decide if I should release it as a 'prequel'.
