Mysteries in my own life, let me see...No big mystery has occurred in my life that would make an interesting plot. My second book, Wildcat: a Texas Romance, has two mysteries. One is about a murder and the other is about how the heroine, who lost her mother when she was four years old, is dealing with needing a mother in her life now more than ever. She goes on a search for her in her own memory and learns about herself in the process. I enjoyed writing that book. :)

Like I said in another answer, I like to research when I don't have a project in the works. I bought the book, Into the Woods, by John Yorke. He discusses the structure of novel as a five act play format instead of the three act play format I learned from others. Shakespeare wrote in the five act format and Yorke started talking about Macbeth and the three witches and I thought, "hummm. Interesting. What if..."

I'm trying something new to me. I am interested in the Fantasy genre. I have been a Romance fan for so long, I'm afraid it is going to turn into a Romantasy. I don't know what's going to develop, but it's fun trying something new.

Never give up. Write. Even if what you produce doesn't seem to be good enough. Keep it. Study your craft. Be patient with yourself. There are many moving parts in a story or novel. It takes time to get them all together. But when you do, it sure is worth the effort.

I try not to admit I have it. Instead, I use the opportunity to catch up on my research. I pick up books about anything that piques my curiosity. I begin to imagine characters involved in situations in this interesting setting or that time in history. I concentrate on that particular place or this particular time. When I start picking up yellow pads to write my thoughts down, I'm pretty close to starting another book.

I would like to go to Regency England and chase Mr. Darcy around.

I love to write. I love to read. I often read a book that fascinates me with the way the writer choreographs their words to build pictures and emotions and I think, "I want to do that."
