Jim Clougherty Taking a short break is helpful, but also by listening to/watching/reading the things that inspired me to begin with.
Jim Clougherty There are no limits except your imagination.
Jim Clougherty The sequel to Gold Fever. I'm currently calling it "Seven Seals", but the title is pending. I'm also trying to get people to read Gold Fever, but even offering it for free, it's difficult to find willing and able reviewers!
Jim Clougherty I listen to a lot of heavy metal. Contrary to popular belief, it's not all about devil worship, but rather a set of stories being told in song form. So I use a lot of that as inspiration. Many things that I write about have been floating around in my head for years.
Jim Clougherty Gold Fever was originally going to be a video game in a similar setting (Trapped in the mines). The key difference is that the player would control a mute character that is ridiculed and looked down on for not having anything to say. It would be a game about loneliness and isolation

The book ended up having a lot more characters with different motives and not as much ridicule for the main character, Joel. I still kept him mute though, because I thought it would make for interesting interactions and make a lot of other characters underestimate him.
