Merren Tait The stimulation and sense of fulfilment I get from being creative. Writing makes me very happy. It's not the potential to make money that drives me, it's the creative process.
Merren Tait Read as much as you can. Reading is a very valuable learning experience, especially if you also read outside of the genre you write in. It will help you acquire a unique writing voice.
The best thing I did as an inexperienced writer was get professional feedback on each serious redraft. Hire a developmental editor or a manuscript assessor. Merren Tait By relaxing and not forcing it. Ideas that have been evading me often emerge in the shower, in bed, when I'm out for a walk or doing something I enjoy that requires little thinking.
