I have been a volunteer on five archaeological excavations around the Mediterranean Sea. Digging up artifacts and reading classic texts were the major influences behind Across Ancient Sands.

I am writing a book based on a series of paintings I am working on called Portraits of Philosophy. It includes portraits of philosophers using a style based on their works and pairs them with a second painting further illustrating their ideas.

Don't get bound by a specific genre. I had a lot of people tell me I should write a sequel to Across Ancient Sands but I am so satisfied with that work I am looking forward to trying something completely different.

Do it for the love of writing because it's definitely not an easy way to make a living.

If I am really stuck I find that if I draw an illustration it helps me visualize what to write next.
