Hi Ashlee -- I've just started reading Beneath a Scarlet Sky by Mark Sullivan (loving it so far). As far as writing news goes...I'm about to wrap up edits on my debut contemporary fiction novel, The Confidence Games, which I've written as Tess Amy. The idea for MARION LANE & THE MIDNIGHT MURDER comes from a bunch of strange and unrelated sources of inspiration, one of which is Malta's magnificent network of underground tunnels and war rooms. I just loved the idea of a secret world existing beneath a city's streets - the perfect place to hide a private detective agency!

A good book always helps but generally I don't wait for inspiration, I just force myself to sit down and start writing - even if it's rubbish. The inspiration and grand ideas tend to flow while I'm at it.

I haven't had writer's block as such, but when I'm feeling uninspired or overwhelmed with a particular scene/plot point, I try to do something else for a while .... like answer goodreads author questions.
