I don't have any mysteries in my own life that could be a plot. However, I recently vacationed in the Colorado mountains. While I was there, the community had a fall festival complete with people dressed in medieval costumes, an effigy that would eventually be burned, fire dancers, and townspeople chanting as they carried torches. I watched this festival thinking it looked like the perfect setting for a murder mystery.
