Ruth Badley The mysterious death of my maternal grandmother was the inspiration for my first book, Where are the grown-ups? Her death at the age of 25 had a profound impact on 3 generations but no one in my family spoke of it. It was left to me to uncover the details and tell her story.

Ruth Badley Seeing your work out in the world and in people's hands! After months and sometimes years, working by yourself and in your own head, it's great to be able to share what you've created with readers and find out what they think of it.
Ruth Badley Where are the grown-ups? is my first book and I mostly knew how I wanted to tell the story and the scenes I needed to write to bring the ideas to life for the reader. I did get 'stuck' about half way through. It was quite frustrating but I found the only way out of it was to put down what I could and ask my editor for advice. A few wise comments and a second opinion helped to get me back on track.
