Kari Shuey Whirring around to look at the shattered crystal lying on the floor next to the play-set table, my gaze shifted to the porcelain doll still sitting primly in her place. Then she smiled.
Kari Shuey I always thought Ender's world was interesting. I don't think I would do well with the combat stuff, but the games in the anti-gravity chamber intrigued me. Otherwise, I would willingly visit Jane Austen's worlds for vacation. I'd go to dances, learn to play the piano, and allow myself to be wooed by a gentleman.
Kari Shuey I get my ideas from a variety of sources. Sometimes it will be one sentence, or a fun prompt I find presented on a website. For The Last Housekeeper, I was itching to write a mystery/romance mash-up and initially started the story with an attorney and her client. This morphed into the housekeeper being the protagonist and the client being her boss.
Kari Shuey I have always loved reading and as I read more and more... writing became the next step in my love of literature. I absolutely love keeping people on their toes as I tell them a story with unexpected twists and turns.
Kari Shuey I am currently working on another romantic mystery involving a young lady who has been targeted for an unknown reason. Suspicious people are everywhere around her and she has to decide if she can put her trust into a stranger.
Kari Shuey Never stop writing and never give up. Find what works for you and write about what excites you. Usually if you're excited, others will be too. There are a lot of different people out there, so if you do end up writing something that other's hate, don't let it get you down. You can't please everyone.
Kari Shuey I love giving a voice to characters and watching them come to life on my paper. There is just something neat about letting your character grow and develop as they overcome obstacles I place in front of them.
Kari Shuey Honestly, I don't think I have experienced true writer's block yet. I like to combine the way I write a book by ploting out the main parts then letting the characters take me to each of those main plot points. They write the story, I just give them the parameters.
