Most of Ethereal was written in my head as I walked my dogs. I think there's something about being out in nature that switches on the story part of my brain.

If I’m struggling with something, I’ll take a break. Sometimes a cup of tea and a biscuit is enough of a perspective shift, but if that doesn’t work, I’ll go for a walk with the dog or sleep on it. I know I'll figure it out eventually.
Fear had me stuck for a long time, so much so, it took more than a decade to finish and publish my first book. Deciding to worry less and just enjoy the writing was a major breakthrough for me, which has the advantage of taking the pressure off.

My most recent book, The Cold of Summer, is the sequel to The First Ethereal. It arrived as I was finishing Ethereal and was the logical next step for the story.

I'm researching my third book. It will be another 'witchy' book with a romantic theme. Stay tuned!

Writing! I know that sounds a bit trite, but I’m at my happiest when I’m writing. There are days when I’m convinced it’s all utter rubbish and I should re-train as a plumber or something, but on the good days, time stops and I’m wherever my imagination takes me. It’s a peculiar, but wonderful kind of freedom.

Just write. I let fear of judgement hold me back for more than a decade - please don't do that to yourself!
Not everyone will love your work, but that's fine. If you love writing - just write. You'll learn as you go. The world needs more people who follow their heart.

Is it cheating to say Pont Nefoedd? I know I shouldn't pick the setting for my own books, but the fictional Welsh market town I created for The First Ethereal was my little piece of utopia brought to life. I'd love to hang out in Cordelia's Cafe & Bookshop!
