Alex De Ciantis Patience and persistence. You have the words inside you, they're just taking a little time to find their way out. Sometimes I have to stare at a page for hours, and write and rewrite a sentence 200 times... but eventually the words get there. Just have to stick with it, and believe the words will come.
Alex De Ciantis Being able to go to bed with my soul at peace, knowing that I took the risk to be what I wanted to be in the depths of my heart.
Alex De Ciantis Just do it. Don't wait for permission and don't get caught up in trying to be perfect. All you need is something to say, and from there, the rest comes from your willingness to risk saying it imperfectly.
Alex De Ciantis Right now, I have a few ideas in my for a 'next book' and I'm staying patient in order to discern which idea is the one to run with. That being said, I'm also in the midst of launching The Art of Unbecoming, and I want to enjoy that process, be proud of it, and give it the attention it deserves. Writing it took so much of me, and letting myself recharge is an important piece of continuing to write.
Alex De Ciantis The honest answer is that the inspiration comes and goes. I think it's more of an act of listening than it is anything else. Essentially, I try my best to listen to my internal voice, and when it has something to say, I sit down and let it speak through me (via writing). It involves surrender and discipline, and this is how I've been able to find my most honest voice and inspiration.
