My hand trembled as I wiped the slippery blood off my face. I gawked down at my friend's half-eaten body and thought, my god, what have I become?

Mid-World, hands down. To palaver with Roland and his quintet would be splendid.

I've got a huge list! I'm the most stoked about Paul Tremblay's new novel, Survivor Song. I'm currently reading Alma Katsu's The Deep. Just finished The Institute.
A few in my TBR pile for this summer are: If It Bleeds, Once we were Brothers, Growing Things, One Year After, and The Overstory.

I'm not sure I've ever truly encountered it. I've had days where I didn't want to write, or times when I lacked motivation, but I've never had writer's block in the way I've heard other people express it. I'm thankful for that!

Being admired for making stuff up!

The biggest fault I've encountered with so many aspiring writers is that they actually don't write. They talk about writing, they want to be writers, but when the rubber hits the road, they're not writing anything.
The best thing you can do as an aspiring writer is finish the story. Don't get distracted, don't ask people what they think before it's done, just write it. Finish it. Then finish another one.
The two most common things to avoid - constantly working on the same book, or writing one book and never writing another one.

My current work in progress is a novel about a haunted lake, amply titled, Kate's Lake, that tells the story of an alcoholic Iraq war veteran who discovers what he thinks is the fountain of youth.
I'm excited about this story! I'm hoping for a release date in early Spring of 2020. That said, the release date will ultimately be set by the publisher.

I've always been inspired to write. I can't remember a time when I didn't have the desire to write stories, even as a child. That's not to say that I don't hit periods of frustration, or that my motivation doesn't tank, but as a whole, the inspiration is constant.

It was a combination of ideas, but one in particular gave birth to the character. As a young child, we'd visit a nursing home not far from where I grew up. Several of the tenants took the time to speak with us and tell us stories, often about World War II, the Great Depression, and other interesting experiences they'd had. One tenant in particular, a blind man with sweeping gray hair, would give the children puppet shows. As I'd sat cross-legged amongst my kindergarten classmates, my mind wandered and I imagined the kind blind man as a wizard fighting monsters. Years later, this memory resurfaced and bamb, Markus was born!
