I can take my time to say what I want to say, and determine how I want to say it. It's not like painting - which is definitely more spontaneous and intuitive than writing. I like the balance I get from utilizing both art forms simultaneously.

I usually pick up the guitar, or paint something. Sometimes I just go for a walk in the woods (or the by the ocean preferably) to clear my head.

I'm currently working on a new painting series called "Arete" (which is a Greek word meaning: to live to ones greatest potential. Once I have created those paintings, which will be based on virtues that enhance the quality of life, I plan to work write an accompanying guidebook or workbook for the series.

I was originally inspired to share the stories behind my songs through an art-related performance exhibition. Last year, I painted my original songs and presented the paintings, songs and stories (in short form) to live audiences in Newfoundland (where I'm from) and in Norway (where I currently live). It has been those live audiences that asked for more - so this year I've written the book as well as recorded all the songs on a full-length album.

The idea or concept of my memoir "Stepping Stones" comes from my original songs. I have used my original songs as a framework to share personal experiences that originally inspired the songs as well as the relatable lessons I've learned from them.
