Sarah Swindell My first book is a memoir, so finding an idea was pretty easy!
Sarah Swindell My autistic son inspires me every day which usually produces something to write about.
Sarah Swindell My plan is to write a fiction story based on true events about an adult child with non-verbal autism his whole life, suddenly able to speak out of the blue. He will be able to reflect on his life of 18 years not being about to talk and then suddenly able to tell his family and loved ones about what that felt like to him. His family would finally be able to know all his thoughts and feelings he was never able to share. I want it to make people laugh AND cry!
Sarah Swindell Start a blog! It for sure jumpstarted me into writing the book and also created many followers that I otherwise would have never had.
Sarah Swindell I think being able to freely express my thoughts about things others find hard to talk about is the best part. Starting my blog last year before I wrote my book was the best thing I ever did to get the confidence that I needed. Getting feedback from readers about how grateful they were to feel that they were not alone in their own feelings was amazing to hear.
Sarah Swindell I learned early on, my brain works so much better early in the morning! Like, REALLY early. I feel like my words flow better and have so much more meaning when all is quiet in the house and the day has not quite begun yet.
