Well, yes, that's definitely the idea when I start out! Sometimes I run into a roadblock and have to lay a project aside for a while; and sometimes an idea just doesn't work out (which is why I've steered a little away from sharing frequent progress updates online), but in general I begin with the idea that I'm writing something for publication.

No, not in great detail. Of course I've read things that touch on the Indian wars in reading Western history and fiction, but I haven't made a study of the subject.

Well, there you're asking a question I don't know the answer to myself! :) I did toy with that idea once, specifically in relation to another character in the series, and decided it didn't fit. So I all I can say right now is that I don't have any plans for it to happen.
(Thing is, if she did remarry then she wouldn't be Mrs. Meade anymore...)

Good question! I'm definitely planning to release A Sidekick's Tale as an ebook/paperback once the serial is complete, so I've created a Goodreads page with a future publication date, and you can add it if you like: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/3...

Yes, I am planning on more! I have one drafted and awaiting edits which I hope to release sometime this year, titled The American Pony. I don't have a specific number in mind for the final amount of books in the series, but I can tell you that I have concepts in mind for at least two, possibly three more stories after that one.

Researching my family tree often leaves me with intriguing unanswered questions about ancestors which could be great starting-points for a mystery plot. For instance, a great-great-great-grandfather whom I've dubbed the Man of Mystery, since his birthplace and birthdate are different on nearly every record! Maybe one day I'll find out where he really came from...or, I might one day get a story out of imagining my own answers to questions like that.

Hi Allison! The ebook edition is available on Amazon now: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XGZKXFV/ I'm working on the paperback edition at the moment, and hope to have it ready sometime this month—basically, it all depends on how quickly the proof copy comes and whether any changes need to be made. :) But this spring for sure!

Technically, I’ve been writing most of my life! I’ve simply always loved making up stories. When I was little, I stapled sheets of paper together to make books and wrote stories on them, and often daydreamed about being an author someday. But I really began to be serious about my writing when I was in my late teens.
The first full-length manuscript I finished was probably when I was about twelve years old—it was called “The Wisteria Arbor” and was very heavily influenced by E. Nesbit and Marguerite Henry, who were among my favorite authors at the time! I’m content to regard that one as an amateur effort. :)

Hi Jonathan—nice to see a fellow Bower fan! A few of my personal favorites include Tiger Eye, Chip of the Flying U, Hay-Wire, Skyrider, Her Prairie Knight (probably more specifically a romance than any of her other books), and Points West. Fool's Goal, Five Furies of Leaning Ladder and The North Wind Do Blow are good too.

My biggest influence in writing Westerns in general is probably B.M. Bower, my own favorite Western author. For "Left-Hand Kelly" in particular, though, I also drew a good deal of inspiration from Max Brand, especially his knack for writing a plain-spoken, conversational narrator in his first-person stories.
