Susan Allred I don't often get writer's block. I get editor's block. I HATE editing. With an unholy passion. For me, I have to give myself tiny goals (I'm extremely goal oriented and I thrive on deadlines). So, I'll tell myself, I'm going to edit three pages during this 20-minute sprint. And I may have to do several sprints throughout the day. But eventually it chips away at an entire book and viola! It's done!
Susan Allred I have two "best" things.

1) The creativity. I never thought of myself as a creative person until I began writing. Now entire world come from my mind, and lives are lived within the pages of my stories. I love the power and the thrill of such creation.

2) The flexibilty. I have four children, one of which has special needs. I am a mother first, which means I have to squeeze my writing, editing, and promotions into little nooks and crannies of life. Sometimes I only have fifteen minutes. Other times I can eek out entire weekends all to myself. I love the flexibility of taking what I can get and flourishing with it.
Susan Allred Never stop writing and never stop learning. You can always write a little better. And, even though life may require you to put your writing on pause for a bit here and there, don't ever give up on it! This is something you can do until the day you die, and it is so incredibly gratifying to create!
Susan Allred I'm in the final stages of the UNLEASHED series. I just released Unleashed (book 1) yesterday, and hope to release another book each month. There are 9 total books in that world.

I'm also writing a book called Legacy's Ghost, which is a sci-fi, a sweet romance short story for an anthology, and a non-fiction called Take Your Condolences and Shove it. --Details about that one as I get closer to completion ;)
Susan Allred Each day is a little different. I'm incredibly busy - usually up from 6 a.m. until 1 a.m.

I try to really observe the people and the activities around me. And I strongly believe that every person has a "story." Often I'm inspired by a snippet of info on the news and I wonder, "what if...", or my youngest daughter often comes up with the most random ideas and I write them down. Last week something came to me as I was drifting off to sleep and I had to get up and write it down!
Susan Allred My most recent release, Unleashed, was the very first book I wrote. It was also my first NaNoWriMo experience.

My inspiration was my oldest daughter, Elisha. And each subsequent book in that series had another of my children as one of the main characters. I wanted my kids to know that their mother loved them enough to write an entire book about them, and show them how they inspired me as a writer.
