Steven Harvey When I go to bed at night I think briefly about my writing project the next day and when I wake up the next morning I often have a word or phrase to get me started on the day's work. I also carry around a small notebook to jot down ideas and phrases that seem to come from nowhere.
Steven Harvey I waited fifty years to write The Book of Knowledge and Wonder--a book about the suicide of my mother when I was age eleven--because I had almost no workable memories from my childhood due to that traumatic event. Eventually I read a box of 406 candid letters that my mother sent to her mother and began to piece together the story. In a way, my mother and I wrote the book together as a long-overdue reunion of sorts.
