For snags in telling a story, I usually talk the problem out. In explaining it, you usually hit upon the solution. For full-scale writer's block... I don't know. If you find a solution, tell me! The best thing I've found is to clear your head. This may take months, unfortunately!

It's tempting to say to a historical setting, but I'm not sure I would want to do without the comforts of the twenty-first century! However, I've always thought Prince Edward Island from the "Anne of Green Gables" books sounded very nice.

I'm reading a lot of historical books this summer, some for research, some for pleasure. "The Hemingses of Monticello," "Those Who Labor for My Happiness: Slavery at Thomas Jefferson's Monticello," "American Lion," and a few others.
