Hi, Chrystal - I was diagnosed August 2016. Mantle Cell Lymphoma, "the Beast" as we refer to it, is a sneaky one - it goes undetected and then wham! It turns aggressive and with each relapse is more difficult to treat. It is, unfortunately, incurable. That being said, I did a clinical trial and the MCL has been 'dormant' (better word than remission as people hear cure) for a few years. I am, by all accounts, very fortunate and above the curve compared to the majority of my fellow warriors with MCL. Thank you for asking. Are you or someone you know suffering with cancer? I'm always available to chat.

At Epic Experience, a camp for adult cancer survivors, sitting around and laughing and talking and realizing we all had the same thoughts, feelings, and fears; and that we all felt misunderstood by those on the outside of our cancer diagnosis.

There is a lot of wisdom to Elizabeth Gilbert's Big Magic,
"Perfectionism is a particularly evil lure for women, who, I believe, hold themselves to an even higher standard of performance than do men...At some point, you really just have to finish your work and release it as is—if only so that you can go on to make other things with a glad and determined heart."

I was encouraged to write by numerous patients, providers and caregivers who felt my online journal was raw, open and honest. They felt my message needed to be heard. This project was solidified by a group of amazing people at a camp for adult cancer survivors, Epic Experience. I would encourage anyone who is now an adult, who has gone through cancer to check out www.epicexperience.org
