Great question. Actually my first book, 'Heart of Steel' is based on a true life mystery in my own life. I learned a few years ago, my last name is not Miller, but Puchalski. My grandfather changed it in 1920 to hide a dark, tragic family secret. So tragic, he took his reasons to the grave. It took years to unravel the mystery and learn the shocking truth.

I was inspired by the true life story of my grandfather. He was an incredible individual who kept a great many secrets. Learning my last name wasn't originally Miller motivated me to find out why. Puchalski was my family name. I needed to know why my grandfather changed our name. He did so at a young age.
