Hi I have read and loved both What Unbreakable Looks Like and Daughter and I just stumbled across some info about Pieces of Me that sounds like it's going to be published in 2023. I was just curious if there will be any chance for readers to have access to an ARC or even to buy an advanced copy of this new book for review? I hope that's not rude to ask, but figured can't hurt right?! If not I shall be patient:-)

Will there be a second book following What Unbreakable Looks like? Or has Lex's story come to an end?
Kate McLaughlin Hey there! Thanks for the question and sorry to have taken so long to answer. I think Lex is good for now. I just want to have her go on and have a lovely life with as little drama as possible. But, you never know. If I get a good idea for her, I might revisit.

Can you tell us a two-sentence horror story?
Kate McLaughlin "I'll called you last night, but your husband said you were sleeping."
"I live alone."

How do you get inspired to write?
Kate McLaughlin If the story is one I really want to write then it inspires me on its own. If I'm having an off day, usually some music that fits the feel of the book will get me going.

How do you deal with writer’s block?
Kate McLaughlin Writer's Block usually means I've tried to take the story in a direction it doesn't want to go, and I can always fix it by letting the characters have their way.

What’s the best thing about being a writer?
Kate McLaughlin The ability to give good people a happy life and make bad people suffer.

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?
Kate McLaughlin Read a lot. Read everything. Pay attention to people. Why are they the way they are? Once you start wondering that, you'll have no shortage of things to write about.

What are you currently working on?
Kate McLaughlin I just finished up the first draft of a new YA about Dissociative Identity Disorder, and am planning out an adult novel I hope to sell or self-publish. It is also about trafficking, but from a mother's perspective.

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?
Kate McLaughlin What Unbreakable Looks Like came from an NPR story my husband heard. He told me he thought I should write about Human Trafficking. At the time I didn't know it was the horribly profitable industry that it is. I did some research, got really angry, and decided he was right -- I needed to write about it. Then, I started mentoring a girl who had been trafficked and I saw first hand what happens to these girls.
