Just saw this question. So sorry for the delayed response. Mystery in my own life? My whole life is a mystery! lol But a mystery that would be worthy of a plot for a book? Hmmm. I have lots of instances that my over-active imagination would turn into mysteries. haha Here's one:
Once my teenage daughter didn't come home from a date and I couldn't get hold of her, her boyfriend or his family. I called the police that they tracked her cell phone to a park next to a river. The ping literally showed up on the river's edge. They sent a patrol car to the park but there was no sign of anyone and, since it had only been a few hours, they couldn't consider her "missing" yet, making her disappearance unworthy of a search. So I drove to the park and, using a flashlight, walked along the shore of the river, hoping I'd find nothing and fearing what I would find. Luckily, around 5am, she called frantically after hearing all the messages. She and her boyfriend and gone to his brother's house (who lived near the park) and had both fallen asleep while playing video games. (she's a good kid and very responsible so I believed her story and, at that point, was just relieved she was okay). However, that nightmarish walk along the river's edge inspired the opening chapter of my second Sam Lawson Mystery, Beneath the Surface.

I was watching a documentary on the Laci Peterson murder and I started asking a lot of "what if" questions, exploring the gray areas of that case, which there were many. That led me down a rabbit hole of different scenarios until I came out with the basic plot.

I once listened to an interview with filmmaker Robert Rodriguez and he said something that I wrote down and have taped to my desk:
"Action comes BEFORE inspiration, not the other way around."
For me, this is so true. If I'm not feeling inspired, I start writing and the inspiration will come.

I'm finishing up the second book of my Sam Lawson Mystery series. It's called Beneath the Surface and I'm really proud of it. I hope to release it by late May/early June. Then I'm starting to work on the third book of the series, which I'm starting to casually plot out now.

Just do it! And keep doing it! Write something you would like to read. Don't worry about how to get it published or marketed. There's a time and a place for that. But first you have to have written something. The more you write, you'll start to find your voice and your style.

I love two things equally. The first is being able to create and share new worlds and characters that can bring a bit of joy and entertainment to someone. The second is being able to craft a great sentence. One that is more than just functional but also it's own mini piece of art inside a larger piece of art.
