P. Sheelwant Any odd human deed with a scent of selflessness inspires me to write.
P. Sheelwant A novel set in the early nineteenth century India when Moughal empire, the richest on the earth, had been crumbling; spoils, up for grab; rajas, popping up day in and day out; roads, turning more treacherous day after day; dog fights, all over the terrain; and common man, a mere pawn – all, for over a century.
P. Sheelwant Always remember the words of William Zinsser, “The race in writing is not to the swift but to the original.” Also, always remember the words of Ruskin Bond, “… a person has no business to write unless he has something in his heart that cries out to be expressed.”
P. Sheelwant The best thing about being a writer is not to worry how to pass the time, rather to worry how to match your chores to time.
P. Sheelwant For me, the business of writing is a craft that only occasionally rises to the level of art. I am first an artisan; an artist later. When I get into a block, I guess I am trying too much the art part. I climb down to my craft – me the wordsmith – and, lo, the writer’s block vanishes. Also, as a craftsman, if I choose to stick around in the block long, I starve, I vanish; and wouldn’t be there to take your questions. No?
P. Sheelwant Jim Collins' masterpiece GOOD TO GREAT captivated me. Though written through examples of business enterprises, it has great lessons for youths pursueing careers. I gifted individual copies to each of my children. The 320-page long non-fiction adores their bookself, yet unfinished, in almost a decace. Dismaying, no?
That gave me the idea why not write a fiction that encapsulates the concepts of the book, and, lo, it bred The Foe Within.
