Frances Webb I would go to Mars. I would study how Martians get along with each other--what kind of "government" they have. My guess is that it is ruled by empathy and kindness, through some sort of high tech telepathy system. It would be my mission to discover how they do this.

This may sound like a frivolous answer, but it is not. I'm serious.
Frances Webb Lately the moat surrounding Justin's house has been gurgling, even though there is no water in it. Today, Justin has decided to find out why but just as he was about to descend into the "dry" moat, the gurgling became big bubbles that suddenly burst open spewing snakes which coiled themselves around his legs and looked up at him screaming "now you will join us forever and at the same time forever fill this moat with water for those of us struggling to live in it."
Frances Webb Wisdom's Daughter (about Solomon and Sheba) by India Edghill,
Serai by Jill Eileen Smith
Delphi Altair by K.D.Dowdall
Reign of the Marionettes by Sheena Macleod
Frances Webb The house I grew up in had a moat surrounding it. There was no water in it, but it was very clearly a moat. The house itself had a Charles Adams look to it, also. When I asked why it was there, the answer was "for interest". I'm getting ideas by answering this question, so I'd better stop...
Frances Webb I started writing when I was in my teens, but there was a precise moment when I made a very definite decision to become a writer. I was reading "Ethan Frome" in the ninth grade and came across a sentence that amazed me. I stopped reading, stared out the window and thought: "A person, not God, wrote this, so that means that I could do this..."
Frances Webb I've been thinking about this for two weeks now, and have had a hard time coming up with a couple because my favorite characters have not been "a couple". The one couple who kept coming to mind over and over was Hamlet and Ophelia. Not that I'm particularly attracted to tragedy, but Shakespeare's language blows me away, and also his insight into human nature (among other things about him.
Frances Webb I apologize.... If there is one country I should have included, it should have been Canada. Especially since it is clearly going to be a haven and refuge for some in the next four years. My last giveaway (for a different book) I said basically anywhere and I ended up sending books to places I'd never heard of for rather high postal rates, but I WILL send to Canada if anyone asks.

"Pilgrimage to Memphis" sounds intriguing, and congratulations on its upcoming publication. Good luck to you.
Frances Webb Sorry this has waited 2 months to get answered--
It's very difficult, but I usually isolate myself and let the idea that has been floating around get more formed, or if that has already happened, "will" a voice and a sentence to come from it. Usually all three have to happen at once, the idea (general), the voice and the sentence, (or words).
