In October, 1975, police discovered what appeared to be a murder-suicide between my grandpa's cousin, John Slater and his wife. The mystery is that one gun wasn't fired at all and neighbors saw the saw running from the house but a grand jury acquitted him. The news articles change the story by the time the grand jury is convened. I wish we had DNA evidence back then to see who handled the gun.

My current project is a historical fiction about the TRUE story behind Eliza Harris, the escaped slave depicted in Uncle Tom's Cabin. My family had stations and conductors along the Underground Railroad in Ripley, Ohio, so I'm going to add Eliza's true events, as told by her to John Rankin, with my own family's involvement in the Underground Railroad.

My most recent book is Book 3 of a 4-part series. The initial idea for the series came from a single sentence: "Those who would enter the Kingdom of Faerie must have the heart of a child." - Andrew Lang. From that, I wrote the first 5 chapters of Book 1, and then, as Tolkien once said, the story grew in the telling.
