Forget about writing for the masses. Write about what you love. There are others out there that love the same things (even if your book does not appeal to everyone.) I worked with a woman once that would always wear such grand jewelry pieces, and they were obviously VERY expensive. She always said I cannot take the money with me when I die; I would rather just feel beautiful today.
