With FLAMES OF SECRECY, I had a lot of life experiences from childhood and throughout my career that came into my head to create a mentally tortured serial arsonist who targeted women because of an abusive mother, while at the same time, creating an investigator with his own issues.
The big twist in the book comes from a similar discovery in my own life.

I feel it was instilled within me to write and once I started it was almost impossible to stop. After my first book, BURN BOSTON BURN, was completed, the bug was in my head to keep going.

Don't procrastinate or make excuses. Go get it done. Put your story down on paper then don't be afraid to ask others for help to finish the project. Writing for me was the easy part, but getting the books published and marketed was a serious challenge. We all need assistance to put out the best product possible.

I really haven't had a serious bout of writer's block. My imagination never seems to stop. Sometimes, I'm a little too analytical, perhaps from my 37 years of writing reports mostly on fire and explosion investigations as some readers indicated in my first 2 books. I hope I overcame some of this in FLAMES OF SECRECY where the ideas for the story just kept coming.
