When I was a young girl, about age 10, instead of playing dolls, I would play writing with my friend, Ange. We would sit for hours with paper and markers and write stories. When we were finished, we would trade and read each other's creation. It was a great escape, an adventure, and I was hooked.

I would enter the world of "The Paris Wife," by Paula McLain. Take a step back in time to the 1920s. I would explore Paris with all five senses. See the sights, taste the food and wine; listen to the music, feel the breeze, and smell every flower and expensive perfume. I would meet the people and converse over coffee. I would talk and dine with Ernest Hemingway and his wife, Hadley. I would go dancing with F. Scott Fitzgerald and his wife, Zelda. I would admire art and poetry with Gertrude Stein. I would soak it all in and then write what I experience.
