The world around me. There's a story I wrote one year that had a haunted printer in it inspired by a weird tech happening at my workplace where a printer printed part of the items checked out, a few more after the patron left, and the final two or three when no one was around the desk.

Real life. My poetry comes from experiences I've been through or that others have been through and talked with me about. My fiction comes from anywhere and usually involves a character smacking me upside the head.

Write what you want to write. The same advice as many others will tell you. Write what you want, what makes you happy, what you want to read. Don't let anyone tell you you can't be a writer. "Better to write for the self and have no audience than to write for the audience and have no self."

By writing anyway. Write something different. Write something new. Use prompts. Or if that's not working take a small break. Let yourself breathe. Meditate.
