Currently, since I am still young, the best thing is seeing people's faces when I say I'm an author. The second best thing is seeing their reaction when they realize I'm not kidding. As great as those things are, neither of them are quite as great as being able to look at all of these adults, teens, and children and tell them how very possible their dreams are. How it's so easy to just go for it. The journey is never easy, but once you jump in, it's one of the best things in the world.

Don't give up. It may sound cliche, but honestly don't give up. Don't beat yourself up if your writing doesn't currently live up to your standards because, believe it or not, writing also takes a lot of practice. Keep your stories in mind. Keep practicing and learning. Some day, if it's really what you want to do, you could be the next best seller.

M.I.A. and the Book of Damien (Book Two) is currently at the copyright office. While I wait for my certificate, I am also working on the third book in the series. Get ready for M.I.A. and the Rebellion! It's gonna be the longest one, so it may take a biiiiit longer.

I've been writing all my life. I actually wrote a miniature novel when I was around eight years old. I even named one of the characters in M.I.A. after one of the characters from that mini-novel! When I started designing characters, I couldn't bear to just draw pictures of them and not share their stories and wild adventures.

As with most of my ideas, the whole thing is a bit of an amalgamation of many things I've seen before. I think the most prominent inspiration for the book's setting was the move. Moving to the area, the forests seemed huge and endless and full of secrets. Unexplored in a beautiful and scary way.
