Hi Jaiden. Sounds like you and I have a few things in common! I came out as bisexual when I was 21 to my parents. I e-mailed them! I was in college and didn't live at home and I was too afraid to tell them in person or over the phone. Coming out isn't always easy, that's for sure. You said you want to come out, though. If you feel like one parent may be more affirming you might want to start with them. Choose a time that isn't stressful - maybe even schedule a time with them, by asking if you can go on a walk together so you're in a neutral space. I, of course, hope they will respond well and be loving. But just know that if they react in a negative way - that reaction is not about you! It may be their own feelings and fears bubbling up. Coming out isn't a one-time thing. You'll be having lots of conversations with your parents over time and they may have lots of questions. Your safety is important. Your authenticity is important. I hope you and your parents can have gentle and loving conversations. If you have my book, maybe you can ask your parents to read it to start a conversation.
