Emma Zeth Ignore all the people who say, 'wow I can't believe you've written a book,' and listen to the people who have actual, helpful feedback, e.g. 'the chapters are really long, i found it hard to get through them.'

The first just feeds the ego, the second hurts for a second or two, but is much more useful. (someone actually said that about chapter 1 and 2 so I split them, and it works much better.)
Emma Zeth There are lots of good things about writing. I get to see the story unfold. I get to work through issues. I get to do interesting research. But probably the best thing is scaring myself with a tense scene and then when it's finished I feel the adrenaline running through my system, even though I've just been sitting at my computer. That has happened once or twice and it's an awesome feeling.
Emma Zeth I'm lucky, this is my first book so I haven't really had writers block. Writing is a treat and a joy. I am itching to write the next book, but know that i should wait until I've packed up my house and moved out, then I can reward myself by writing.
Emma Zeth I want to know what will happen next. I am highly logical so whatever they do has to make sense, but my characters seem to know where they are going. The characters themselves are inspired by people I meet, especially the younger characters, but they seem to develop their own personalities as I write them.
Emma Zeth The idea had been bouncing around in my head for at least ten years... I read a lot of sci-fi when I was younger and I always wondered what I would do if society collapsed. When I bought my first house, I started thinking about it in detail; growing vegetables and preparing an emergency kit. I like daydreaming and over time had several stories in my head. One day I sat down to write and the ideas came flooding out.
