What a great question! Anytime I feel uncertain about what comes next in a story, I sit with my characters. When I immerse myself in their lives and situation and emotions, their actions and dialogue just roll out like a film. Ancillary characters pop up then, too—it's kind of fun. I imagine my method is similar to a criminal profiler; but, luckily, my characters aren't too deviant. Not in this book, anyway!
