I'm working on my certification for ACBC, so a lot of Christian counseling books are on my summer reading list.

I beat it to death with the mallet of my pen.

Being alone in my studio and knowing I have surrendered my work for that day into God's hands. Trusting the process, no matter the outcome. Resting in Him when the word count is not what I hoped or the book sales are (cough!) not that great. Hearing from readers... "Your book was life changing for me."

Pay attention to what the experts are saying, but ultimately, obey the Lord. Get tucked in to Christian Writers Institute and Author Media. I have found these two resource to be a safe place for beginners as well as veterans. They produce quality content and are truly doing kingdom work. I wish I had known about them years ago.

Right now I'm working on a creative non-fiction memoir of sorts. It's message will be to women in the church. I have learned how important it is to have faithful friends in your life who are going to uphold marriage and love your children no matter what. I pray with a small group of ladies once a week, and we get on our knees and take everything in the whole wide world to the Lord. It's amazing what kind of depth can develop in friendship when you are doing that one little thing. The book I'm working on now will be short stories about what has been birthed out of that hour of prayer.

I felt the message in this book was greatly needed in the Christian church. There was a sense of urgency, and that kept me working on it. For four years!

My kids and I were all struggling with the messages we were getting from the world and from the enemy of our souls. I wrote this book to be a spotlight on how satan works to undermine our identity in Christ and our placement in God's Kingdom as sons and daughters. The characters do a lot of heavy lifting in this book, but it's an easy read. 'So easy, in fact, it makes a great read-aloud for children in the right age group. I built in many talking points to help parents start hard conversations with their teens. Please note, I would rate Liar as PG-13 for themes of spiritual warfare and light romance.
