Jason R. Lady To deal with writer's block, sometimes I simply take a break. Put the story down, do other things for a while. I think about where I'm stuck and bounce ideas off my wife, my writer's group, and friends. Sometimes I'll examine the story I'm having problems with and try to figure out what isn't working. Sometimes you just need to change your POV character, drop a character, add a story element or drop a plot point. That breaks through the block and then I can forge ahead.
Jason R. Lady Currently I am working on the prequel to Monster Problems, called Super Problems! A different kid, same magic pen, same zany fun adventure! This one involves superheroes, evil sentient socks, and a talking alpaca!
Jason R. Lady My wife came up with the idea for a kid with a magic pen that brings whatever one draws with it to life. I took that idea and combined it with experiences from my own middle school days, specifically getting in trouble for drawing and not paying attention in class! Throw in one bratty little brother, one big slimy monster, and you have the recipe for Monster Problems!
