Suzanne Maggio I like to walk. In addition to writing, I'm a social worker who teaches Psychology. Walking frees up thinking and creativity. It's a great practice for every day life and to enhance creativity.
Suzanne Maggio When my mother died of Alzheimer's in 2016, I wanted to make sure my children would remember her. I thought if I could commit her to paper, I would help her stay with us. The story that emerged was a surprise though. I guess that's part of the fun of writing.
Suzanne Maggio My mom was a writer. She wrote a twice monthly newspaper column. She also was an avid reader and encouraged us to read. It's one of the stories I tell in The Cardinal Club - A Daughter's Journey to Acceptance.
Suzanne Maggio A book about walking the Camino de Santiago.
Suzanne Maggio Start writing. For years I wanted to write a book but I never seemed to be able to start. I didn't know where to start. Books are a long haul. Writing essays, blogs, a journal, letters... it's all preparation for writing that book one day.
Suzanne Maggio I'm a memoir writer, so for me it's the opportunity to dig deep into experiences and make sense of them. I learn so much when I write, and I'm always so amazed about what comes out.
