Go for a walk and have another coffee! Then sit down and start writing ANYTHING. Don't wait for the perfect thought; just start and see what happens.

I LOVE the creative process. Creating characters who come to life is a great joy. I find that many of my characters take on their own life and seem to lead me as the author. Sometimes it's as if they are dictating their dialogue to me and I am merely the typist!

Read a lot and write a lot. The more you read and write, the better your writing will become. I also recommend a developmental editor for your first novel or two (not just a copy editor). Hiring a good developmental editor will pay huge dividends in the long run, because they will lift your writing skills to a whole new level.

I've been intrigued for some time about the idea of someone discovering that their identity was changed as a baby or young child. Every child fantasises that they might really be a prince or princess who had to be hidden away with 'foster parents' to keep them safe. I wanted to explore an adult version of this fantasy; one with more danger.
